Start of “enerPort” Project – duisport as a model for other inland ports
Duisburger Hafen AG (duisport) and Fraunhofer UMSICHT are working with “enerPort” to develop a master concept for the use and supply of energy in the 1,550 hectare port areal.
enerPort, which receives more than EUR 1 million in financial support from the Federal Ministry of the Economy and Energy, uses the example of the Port of Duisburg to pursue a cross-industry approach for connecting the energy industry with the residential, commercial, industrial, logistics and transportation sectors.
In a first step, the Port of Duisburg defines the energy issues which are supposed to be optimized.
In the next step, the two project partners develop transferable solutions for other inland ports and a master concept for improved energy use / supplies.
duisport is aware that as port practitioners, the port is in a position to develop fundamental approaches for the energy transformation together with scientists. As the world’s largest inland port, Duisburg wants to set an example for other inland ports.
