Railroad Shipments via Duisburg

Efficient railroad connections are a priority issue for duisport. Most of the cargo which passes through Duisburg arrives or leaves by train. Scheduled services link the Port with 80 European destinations and more than 350 regular links weekly. duisport cooperates closely with Railion, the legacy national railroad organization, but private-sector railroad carriers are gaining in importance. It is the overall objective of the Port to optimize the railroad services available in the port, the region and beyond.

duisport rail, the Port's own railroad company set up in 2001, pursues the same policy through its operations in the market place. Through projects developed together with a number of railroad companies, this policy endeavors to further widen the network of efficient rail links via duisport and to create modern services between the Port of Duisburg and other ports and logistics sites. Key criteria which guide this strategy include the consolidation of cargo flows, the optimization of intermodal interfaces and of course the promotion of solutions which respond to the needs of customers.
