Continued Growth of Container Transfers

Over 500,000 TEU in Q1 2010

Duisburg
, April 21, 2010 – The encouraging trend in late 2009 continued with strength this year. Ship, train and truck container services, for instance, handled a cargo volume of 530,000 TEU, up by 26 percent on Q1 2009. By tonnage, container throughput rose by even 31 percent. Apart from growth at all terminals the start-up of the Duisburg Kombi Terminal (DKT) early this year contributed to the expansion.

“This development has confirmed our strategy to pursue our objective of increasing our container terminaling capacities with determination,” said Duisburger Hafen AG’s Chief Executive Officer Erich Staake.
