Erich Staake has been the Chief Executive Officer of Duisburger Hafen AG for 18 years. Born in Hildesheim in 1953, the business administration graduate worked as a manager at renowned international groups after completing his studies, among them Bertelsmann AG.

After completing his university studies, Erich Staake worked as a manager at well-known multinational corporations including Bertelsmann AG, Gütersloh. As the Chief Executive Officer of Duisburger Hafen AG, he has shaped the port's transformation from a virtually mono-structural handling location for coal and steel to its current status as the central product hub for central European industry and trade since 1998. He was also instrumental in combining innovative port technologies with a full range of logistic services. In this way, duisport also became the world’s largest inland container port, and an innovation platform for industry and logistics.

Erich Staake heads up the management teams at several duisport subsidiaries, and also serves as Belgium’s honorary consul. He is also a member of Initiativkreis Ruhr, a member of the advisory board of the Bundesvereinigung Logistik, a member of the economic advisory board of Deutsche Bank AG, and a member of the Supervisory Board of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG.
