Internship in corporate communications

Where exactly did you work at duisport? 

For one month, I supported the corporate communication team and was also given an opportunity to contribute my skills in many different ways. The five-member team is responsible for external communication activities, including contacts with media representatives. But it also focuses on improving the communication strategies/paths internally, and making them even more effective.

What is so interesting about this work? 

Corporate communication offers many different facets. It is very exciting that I am able to develop new ideas in the team and supervise their implementation. Developing and enhancing good communication concepts is very exciting work. In this vein, it is very important to be able to see the company as a whole. With a diverse company such as Duisburger Hafen AG, that is not always so easy. But it is exactly this type of challenge that made the internship so exciting.

Which tasks and events were particularly exciting?  

I was really excited about being able to shape the external communication activities. Media events such as the ground-breaking ceremony at the Mercatorinsel are planned well in advance of the actual date. Seeing a positive article about the
